so since all of you are lazy.
i came up with my own new name for my blog. and that surprises me that you guys didn’t want a $25 gift card for literally ten seconds of thought. hmm…that sucks for you guys.
anyway, welcome to the new, improving: one thousand acts of arson.

outbreak.
it is no big news to anyone that zombies are possibly the coolest things that have ever eerily shuffled across the plains. the past five to ten years should be considered the Great American Zombie Renaissance [i just coined that. that is mine]. filmmakers like george a. romero and edgar wright, and writers like max brooks should be applauded for the incredible works of fiction [and awareness] that they have produced in the recent decade.
not to mention the scores of wonderful video games that have been released as a result of this phenomena.
- resident evil [1996-2009] – i have a whole post in mind for talking about resident evil.
- left 4 dead [2008 & 2009]
- dead rising [2006 & 2010]
i said all that to say this.
on august 24, 2010 the devil wears prada released their first ep and it is pretty much amazing. i had all of their other albums, so it just made sense to buy their new album [and not just buy, i pre-ordered that jam].
merchnow was doing a deal on their website that included the ep, a comic book, and a sweet tdwp tshirt for like $20 so you better believe i bought that. the big surprise was that they included a signed copy of the ep [i squealed like a little girl].
i’ve been listening to nothing but this pretty much since i got it today and it is so well done. it is a little darker than their previous records. the subject material is a zombie apocalypse of course and that is no joking matter.
no joking matter.
to be completely honest, i’m really impressed with this ep. i know it is only five songs, but they’re all fantastic. this was probably the best $7 i’ve ever spent on an article of music.
the thing about the devil wears prada is that they’ve only gotten better over the past four years. their first album dear love: a beautiful discord was really good [for a debut album]. their next album, plagues was also incredibly well done. their last album, with roots above and branches below was practically perfect.
track list:
- Escape
- Anatomy
- Outnumbered
- Revive
- Survivor
i’m completely ready for their next full length album to come out, which i’m hoping is either by the end of 2010 or at the earliest the spring of 2011.
i give zombie ep a 5 out of 5.
next time.
i’ll be talking about some things, and maybe even some stuff. thanks for tuning in.

new social networking? yes please.
so i discovered today that iTunes started a social networking site and to be honest…i may have peed my pants a little. [okay a lot]. so of course, like any other normal person i set out to make myself a profile on this new avenue for bitching about my life. i was thinking “hooray! new people to complain to about the random horrible things that happen in my life!”. but my tinkering with ping has left me confused and unimpressed.
just like a crack addict…
i pretty much jump through flaming hoops to update/access/check my social networking sites [twitter/facebook/etc.]. and yes, i realize this is a sad way to live life but i honestly can’t help it.
however, when i’m not near a computer or i’m away from the internet, i can function just like a normal member of society.
seriously…i update twitter and facebook like…a dozen times a day [seperately].
but anyway.
i made a ping today. and…well…it is kind of…i don’t know…terrible.
basically it is like a more personal version of purevolume. i mean, i love purevolume because bands post music and all that sort of stuff, but i don’t really need another one.
so how do i actually feel about ping?
i hate it. like, it is cool that i can follow bands and my friends and stuff, but i can do that on twitter…and facebook…and tumblr…and myspace…and every other social networking site that has ever existed forever.
i mean don’t get me wrong, i love Steve Jobs and Apple and the iPod and iTunes and everything like that, but this was a stupid idea. i use my iTunes to listen to music, to buy episodes of adventure time, and to make mix cds. i don’t want to follow bands and chat with my friends.
they just need to fix this and make it more interesting. right now it just seems like something i don’t want to update/check…ever. maybe it’ll break the hold that social networks have over me.
that is all i have to say about that.
i’m off to update facebook.

good god.
today has been such a task. woke up at 8am to shower and eat breakfast. than i had my constitutional law class…which is going to be really hard. i thought it was going to be like a civil liberties type law class but apparently that is the optional second semester of the course. [no thanks].i wish someone would have told me that.
and that really pisses me off because human rights is my jam and the only reason i’ve stuck with a political science major this long. ughh… *sigh*
then after that i walked around campus trying to find my advisor, couldn’t find him, then went to my room to sit down for ten seconds before i had to go to my design and editing class. this class is going to be good but only if i can block out half of the people that are in the room. it is seriously a collection of people that either a.) piss me off b.) piss me off or c.) piss me off.
and soon i’ll be off to computer art which is essentially going to be design and editing for morons. this class better not suck. i’ve been trying to take it since freshman year.
in case you can’t tell.
i’m a big ball of sunshine and rainbows today. i’ve had three cups of coffee, and that is the only thing keeping me from passing out or going on a rampage.
that and iTunes. that is helping too.
here is a list of songs keeping me from rampaging:
- “Daylight” by Matt & Kim
- “Every Man Has A Molly” by Say Anything
- “Happiness” by Dance Gavin Dance
- “Death To Los Campesinos!” by Los Campesinos!
- “Texico Bitches” by Broken Social Scene
- “Rococo” by The Arcade Fire
- “Outnumbered” by The Devil Wears Prada
you can thank all of these artists [and coffee] for keeping me from freaking out.
have a wonderful tuesday.
cody.
